Description
The Trammell Bridge, also known as the Blountstown Highway. Began construction in 1937, opened in 1938.
From the U.S. Library of Congress: "This structure is significant as the first long-span steel bridge and first continuous truss bridge built in Florida. As the third bridge in the state to cross the Apalachicola River, a major waterway, it greatly improved travel in the panhandle. The bridge is also a notable example of a Depression-era public works project."
